Ich finde "Dark Star" von Carpenter schön schräg genauso aber flashen mich die Atmo und Sounds bei "Tron" oder "Flash Gorden". Über Kubricks Meisterwerk "Shining" brauch ich wohl nix zu sagen, was das Bild, den Ton und die gesamte Atmo angeht.

Since his last visit to Montreal, Chesler has been scoring hits in Europe, and playing to packed houses as far afield as the former Soviet Union, a level of success made possible by his relocation from Manhattan (and $2,000 rent for a two-room flat) to Prenzlauerberg (aka Pankow) in what used to be East Berlin.

The Horrorist nimmt sie ernst. Bei jedem einzelnen der 17 Tracks wird deutlich, dass sich hier eben nicht wieder einmal jemand einfach nur an seinen Rechner gesetzt und bei der Sound-Software Ableton den "Hit"- Button gedrückt hat. Der Horrorist präsentiert uns stattdessen allerfeinstes Soundwriting. So lässt sich "Attack Decay" auch nicht einfach mit einem Wort beschreiben. Elektro wäre zu einfach, für traitionellen Techno gibt es eindeutig zu viele Experimente, für die experimentelle Schublade ist der Kram viel zu tanzbar und rau. Diese Tracks sind cool...

Being on several hits of E at the time it seemed like a fine idea but when we entered we realized we were the only ones not wearing a shirt. And being shirtless was an invitation for every German wacko to approach me with a sexual fantasy/invite. Even though I'm from New York City I heard things that night I won't ever repeat. Le urla e i suoni dell’electronic-body-music si rincorrono in “Now Destructor” e “Wire To The Ear” dove, più di qualcuno, potrebbe (giustamente) vedere influssi di Nitzer Ebb. Ma Oliver Chesler dimostra di saper fare altro come l’inselvaggita electro-punk di “The World Will Know Us” e “Room Of Posers” che tanto strizzano l’occhio agli Adult. o il noize funereo di “Es Ist Alles Aus” o ancora la romantic-electro di “Pain And Pleasure”.

Estro a manetta insomma per l'artista che sinora si era fatto avanti prevalentemente con brutali sequenze di ritmi che in quest'occasione ricorrono solo per "Automatic", "Where's Adam" e "The Grip Of The Cobra". Impugnando una vecchia drum-machine poi compone "You Are Disturbing" (ove un apparente carillon viene sporcato dal low-fi) raggiunta dalla jackin' acid di "Shopping List" (una furia alla Traxx), dall'electro 80s macinata dal bassline alla Bobby Orlando ("13 Dobermans") e dalla rave-techno di "Body To Body".
