The Horrorist – Run for Your Life by thingstocome
It was the making of this record when my confidence as a musician solidified. I was now able to create pretty much any song I thought of in my head. I remember Cubase VST24 was released around the time I made this release. VST (Virtual Studio Technology) enabled musicians to record vocals and add effects to their voice all inside any Mac or PC. I also used the technology to record layers of my Electrocomp-101 synthesizer loosely throughout the title track “Run for Your Life”. The lyrics of this EP include themes drugs, suicide and a future war. I think these songs still hold up quite well today. In fact, I still start my live show with “Can You Hear the Sound?”.
“Killer! I guess you know my favs: Into The Moonbeam & Can You Hear The Sound. My god, just when you think “this track is awesome” in comes the huuuuuge bassdrum as a bonus! “Can You….” is going to be standard in all my sets and I think that bassdrum will create shivers in warehouses and other large venues. Of course the rest is good to, but since I only play oldstyle and hardcore techno the two tracks I mentioned I make mine. Compliments, you did it again…” – Jeroen Flamman (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
“Boredom Boredom Boredom….Bored of life and corporate dance music….? Cheslers new 12″ restores faith in late 90s music. People are waking up finally……..I am sick to death of German torture dungeons and their shite beats………this record will remove the tedium for at least 10 minutes.” – Neil Landstrumm, Scandinavia Records (Scotland)
“We recieved your test-copy today and it sounds as I expected…WICKED & Awesome!!!” – Kasper Katje, North Support (Gronningen, The Netherlands)
“Evil hardcore hysteria with a sense of certain doom looming High drama and dark story telling from the mind that brought us “One Night In N Y C” – Watt Distribution (NY, USA)
